Festival opens for film submissions with 2014 dates

The BFI London Film Festival has announced today that the 2014 festival, its 58th edition, will run from 8th-19th October, 2014 across the UK capital. The submissions for Feature Film and Short Film both opened today.

The 2013 Festival featured an exceptional line-up including 22 world premieres, 12 international premieres and 29 film premieres. The London Film Festival continues to build on the success of last year’s festival with many emerged as the year’s most acclaimed films. These include 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips, which both premiered as part of the European category last year, and Gravity and Philomena which were shown as UK premieres. All four films have received BAFTA nominations for Best Film at this year’s event, which takes place on Sunday 16th, 2014.

The 2013 London Film Festival closed with the world premiere of Saving Mr Banks and the event enticed 151,000 audience members across 20 screens throughout London. More than 600 filmmakers presented their work at the festival with 235 fiction films shown and documentaries produced from 74 countries. Emma Thompson, Tom Hanks and Paul Greengrass were among the names that attended the event the red carpet events from last year.

Feature and short films for the 2014 BFI London Film Festival can be submitted through the website at www.bfi.org.uk/lff. The short films deadline will be 13th June, 2014 with the deadline for feature films 20th June, 2014.
